Problem

The Wordfast toolbar and menu can no longer be seen anywhere in Word, although wordfast.dot is still in the correct place (Word's startup folder). Wordfast cannot be reinstalled.

Possible cause

Word may have added the Wordfast template (wordfast.dot) to the list of disabled items, often after a serious crash.

Solution

Remove wordfast.dot from the list of disabled items. Here is how:

1) in Word 2007/2010:
a) click on the Office button in Word 2007 or on the 'File' menu in Word 2010:

b) select Options (Word 2007: Word options) > Add-ins. In the 'Manage' dropdown menu, select 'Disabled items' and press the 'Go' button. If wordfast.dot is in the list of disabled items, remove it from the list by pressing the 'Enable' button.

2) in Word 2003:
a) select Help > About Microsoft Word > Disabled items:

b) If wordfast.dot is in the list of disabled items, remove it from the list by pressing on the 'Enable' button:
